What are the advantages and disadvantages of using technology in the preschool classroom? Nowadays, technology is essential to every part of our lives, our workplace and our school-lives. In order to let the new generations acquire the skills to help them to survive in this highly technological knowledge-based society, many schools are just starting to combine technology into preschool classrooms learning. Dr.Char Cynthia, who had been a senior associate in research and design at Bank Street College’s Center for Children and Technology in New York for over 30 years, defines â€Å"technology as children using cameras, computers, tape recorders and video cameras in classroom projects† (Cynthia, 1990, p10). However, there is no evidence that shows that young children’s brains are designed well enough to the use of technology. Integrating technology into preschool classroom instruction brings both advantages and disadvantages in early childhood development. After reading through six credible articles written by professionals in this early childhood teachi ng field, I agree that technology can bring more advantages to preschool learning than bring disadvantages.
